You can tell a lot about a writer in a single page—a bit like an American Idol audition—whether the writer can write, develop character, handle dialogue, pace, etc. The workshop class will act as editors, read the page and determine whether we feel compelled to turn to page 2 or, if not, why not, or if yes, why yes?
Thursday June 18 – MIJI CAMPBELL
Writing a memoir. Sounds simple, right? Just sit down and let your stories spill out onto the page. Not quite. Writing my memoir took a really long time. What sustained me was a regular routine I relied on, a writing process I could count on, and faith that the story would eventually come up to meet me – as long as I kept showing up. Join me for this sampler session of “a day in the life – writing a memoir.” Please bring a memento to the workshop: a photograph, artifact, book, toy, souvenir… Something that reminds you of a moment in your life.
