Program Facilitator for Creative Literacy Workshops for Children (Part-Time Contract)

Primary Job Functions 

  • Co-leading or leading programs in schools and community centres

  • Bringing an educational lens to our programs’ curriculum design

  • Ensuring that programming meets the standards, goals, and outcomes laid out by the organization

  • Liaising with teachers and community workers to plan workshops and understand the unique needs of the students

  • Along with your co-facilitator, adapting the curriculum for workshops to meet the needs of the students

  • Providing leadership, clear direction, and support to the facilitation team, including volunteers

  • Overseeing the evaluation process for programs

  • Ensuring all student work is collected and recorded for final book publishing

  • Attending class book launches, performances, and other events related to programs

Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent experience in elementary education or related field

  • Teaching or arts education experience with children

  • Clear knowledge of literacy skills, e.g. grammar and spelling

  • Knowledge and/or lived experience working with or being part of equity-deserving communities

Terms 

  • September 3–December 22 (approximate, with possibility of extension)

  • Pay will be based on a rate of $25–40/hour, with additional travel stipend

  • Up to 15 hours a week; once the program schedule is set in September, hours will be finalized
