  • Story Planet and TRP, a literacy organization based in Scarborough, collaborate on 360° Stories, a four-week program that pairs young writers with mentors who guide them through writing and illustrating a short story. The resulting anthologies launch the city’s youngest new authors!

  • Connected North connects schools remote Indigenous communities with a vast array of free programming via satellite. Partnering with them was a no-brainer as Story Planet seeks to expand our reach to even more students facing barriers to access. In 2022–23 we worked with four schools hundreds of kilometres away—and we hope to expand to many more!

  • TCAF draws more than 20,000 visitors a year—and in 2023, for the first time, Story Planet ran the kids’ area, creating a magical forest just for young comic-lovers. with author readings, workshops, and a General Store selling comics and graphic novels!

  • Joining with the theatre’s education department, we can add an important component to our ScriptMaker program, giving students the chance to tour a working theatre, meet staff and performers, and act out their scenes on a real stage.

Also in the works: a jointly offered program that takes this relationship between page and stage even further.

  • Students from Driftwood Public School lit up a stage at York University in a magical performance of "The Wishing Tree," a collaboration between the National Ballet’s YOU Dance and Story Planet. The piece was based on a story and song created by kids in Story Planet workshops.

  • Toronto Metropolitan University’s station allowed the Story Planet Podcast to come to fruition through equipment loans, studio space, expertise, and air time for each episode’s launch. We cannot thank them enough for believing in the project and in the importance of media education for kids.
